Our story
We first became interested in small-scale sustainable agriculture when we asked ourselves a simple question: Where does our food come from? That question led us down a path we never could have imagined.
We began farming at a small incubator farm in Orange County, and within three seasons transitioned onto our land in Cedar Grove. The property spans 43 acres and had been farmed for over a century before sitting abandoned for nearly a decade. Since then, we’ve invested an enormous amount of time (and money) transforming the land into a working farm—building a pack shed, installing growing tunnels, and adding plenty of cooler space for vegetable storage.
Over the years, we’ve grown just about every crop under the sun. Farming teaches you quickly what you enjoy growing, what you’re good at, and—most importantly—what you can actually sell. We’ve found our groove in storage crops like potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, and winter squash. At the same time, we continue to experiment with fresh winter harvests in the field, growing crops such as cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage during the coldest months. We sell our produce almost exclusively to other farmers, who incorporate our crops into their already incredible CSA programs.
We also love growing cut flowers, especially dahlias. Our region is well suited to a wide variety of cut flowers, and we focus primarily on spring and fall sales. We continue to expand our dahlia production while experimenting with the best techniques and variety selections for growing in the hot, humid South. For the past three seasons, we’ve sold dahlia tubers nationwide and hope to continue growing that side of the business over the next five years.
After 13 seasons of farming, we finally feel like we have the experience and perspective to move the farm in the best possible direction—focusing on production success, consistency, and quality. We’re also deeply committed to creating a safe and welcoming place for all people and animals on our farm. We hope everyone in our community has the opportunity to visit and experience the beauty and peace we feel here every day—even when we’re working our butts off.
As we continue on our farming journey, we’re filled with a deep sense of gratitude.
We’re incredibly thankful to the people who worked with us during the early years, when we were still figuring things out as we went. Your patience, hard work, and willingness to stick it out made all the difference. We’re especially grateful to those who stayed with us for years as the farm grew and became more productive. While the farm reflects our dedication, it truly exists because of the former and current crew members we’ve been lucky to work alongside—we’d be lost without you.
We’re also sincerely thankful to our CSA farm partners who continue to include our produce in their programs. We admire your hard work, commitment to your members, and ability to juggle the many moving parts of running a CSA. We’re grateful for the trust you place in us and for supporting us as we continue to learn, refine our systems, and grow as farmers.
We’re also incredibly thankful to our farmers market customers, who have quite literally helped pay the way for us to expand the farm. Not only have your dollars helped build this place, but your kind words, encouragement, and steady support have carried us through some of our toughest seasons. As we move away from farmers markets, we’ll never forget that you laid the foundation for our continued growth and success.
And finally, we’re deeply grateful for our friends and family who have supported us through every stage of this journey—listening when we’re overwhelmed, forgiving missed gatherings, and understanding the realities of farm life. Your patience, encouragement, and steady support mean everything to us. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
-
JILLIAN
Jillian works full time on the farm and is in charge of day-to-day operations including planting and harvesting. She’s finally able to admit she has a dahlia addiction but also loves growing winter vegetables and crops for storage.
-
ROSS
Ross is all around Jack-of-all-trades (master at some!). When he's not working at his full-time engineering job, Ross takes care of the tractors, tools, and systems on the farm. He does all the bed prep for planting and loves growing storage crops, especially potatoes.
-
CHARLIE GIRL
Charlie Girl is the silliest farm dog you'll ever meet. When she's not barking at everything under the sun, she spends her time running through cover crops and napping in the sunshine. She is an Australian Shepard and came to the farm in 2015 and is the ultimate spoiled princess.
-

FOXY
Foxy is our adventure girl. She’s very independent but loves attention and will happily sit in your lap if she gets the chance. She’s our number-one rodent hunter—though the boys often steal her kills and act like they did the hard work themselves.
-

Butters
Butters is our resident cuddle bug and often insists on being carried around the farm. He loves climbing the pack shed and growing tunnels so he can meow at you from above. He’s the sweetest boy, and we adore him for his big personality and chubby cheeks.
-

SHADOW
Oh, Shadow! He’s not the brightest boy and often gets tangled up in row cover, stuck in the cat food bucket, or startled by his own shadow. Still, he’s the sweetest guy, and we lovingly call him our little weird alien baby from another planet.
